As Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Within Hours, China’s Remarks Raise Eyebrows:
Minutes after Pakistan violated the barely-hours-long ceasefire, with Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah and Gujarat home minister Harsh Sanghavi taking to social media platform X over drone sightings, China has told Pakistan’s foreign minister that Beijing “stands firmly” with Islamabad. The timing of the release of this statement has raised eyebrows.
Why Pakistan could never have afforded a war with India:
The first law of holes states that if you find yourself in one, stop digging. But Pakistan, whose economy is already at the grief’s doorstep, seemed bent on trading growth for guns before good sense finally prevailed and a ceasefire was announced in a grand Saturday surprise.
Given its rising external debt, fears might have been running high that Pakistan would have been impaled on a lien should things have gone south. Moreover, with depleting foreign reserves, chronic trade deficit, low tax earnings, worsening balance of payment crisis, high unemployment and inflation, everything there seems like it’s going to zero.

Let me tell you what happened in the currency market today. The Indian rupee, which started off a bit weak, managed to bounce back and closed at 85.41 against the US dollar, gaining 17 paise by the end of the day. From what I gathered, this recovery was likely due to some timely intervention by the Reserve Bank of India, which stepped in to prevent the rupee from depreciating too much. It’s a clear sign that the RBI is keeping a close watch to maintain stability in the currency markets.
